Fatigue life analysis of carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) components in hybrid adhesive joints

Abstract Hybrid adhesive joints of metal and composite parts are increasingly common features lightweight structures. Efficient design these requires computational methods for estimating the fatigue life as well being joined – i. e. adherends. The paper focuses on prediction carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) adherends in hybrid joints. After a brief description material considered, two modeling approaches presented. Subsequently, experimental determination model parameters is discussed relevant values For validation, models applied to predict lives multidirectional laminate adherend single‐lap joint. Finally, results both compared with respect results. Both yield reasonable predictions cases considered here. almost uniaxial stress states, very similar while multiaxial states difference more pronounced.
